Description:
It's a little close, but I like this shot. This is the 1963 AMC Rambler 550 sedan I'll be looking at tomorrow. 196 straight six, three on the tree, 58,000 actual miles. |

#41, I can do that tomorrow, if it's not raining too hard. The Granada is actually a pretty interesting car, and a damn good deal for $600. But the drivers' window is busted out, and despite the low price, nobody seems to want to fool with it. |

One of the things this car was in need of was a hold-down for the air cleaner canister...it was just sitting on top of the carburator, which isn't good. I walked down to Tim's junkyard (24368) the other day and scoured the whole bloody thing top to bottom.
After trying a grown-over Chevrolet Citation (side mounted air cleaner), a rolled Electra 225 coupe (air cleaner and carb were missing), a '74 Caprice two door and two 2nd gen Firebirds (none of those had engines), a '60s model International Scout (couldn't get the hood up), a T-boned '69 Olds '88 (next to the '69 Chevelle, also couldn't get the hood up), and an '84 Olds Omega (didn't look like it would work), I finally found a carburator from a Chrysler Slant Six laying around in the garage.
I've been trying all day to fabricate a hold down, and I almost have it. Just have to saw off the new bolt I put in it and bore out the top hole of the air cleaner cover a little.

#48, That's the speedometer. AMC used "single-digit" speedos. 12 = 120 mph. |

So cool. Unique cars make the best daily drivers, why drive a boring car when so much cool stuff like your Rambler is out there for such reasonable money? |

I still love this car. So awesome, yet so bah! It's perfect. I could imagine this sucker with Billet wheels and done up semi-pro touring esque. Great looking car. Take great care of it. |

The Rambler is BACK IN THE GAME. After being off the road since mid-summer, the new water pump is on (and the radiator had to be repaired....that one was unforseen) and I'll be driving it to class tomorrow and presumably from now on until my mother's Intrepid gets repaired.
I drove it to the gas station today and filled it up, and everything seems fine...except for the small rust spot coming up on the body line of the right rear door. :( |

#59, awesome. Sucks ass about the rust spot. In Idaho, I saw one just like yours for sale for $3000 a couple years ago. |
