Description:
It's a little close, but I like this shot. This is the 1963 AMC Rambler 550 sedan I'll be looking at tomorrow. 196 straight six, three on the tree, 58,000 actual miles. |

#80, Tipo is still around, still belongs to my father. The R5 is a rally beater, it's purpose to entertain me and to teach me something about advanced driving. It's destiny is to die in the blaze of glory: engine blown, body crupled, wheels detached. However, due to my smooth and careful driving it will probably be simply scrapped. |

I put the Rambler up on EBAY a couple of days ago, and have no bids yet, but I have gotten some guy from Oregon asking me if he can get, among other things, a clearer picture of the pedals.

I assumed the guy wanted to look at the condition of the pedals to verify the mileage of the car or something, but I really don't know. It just seems like an odd request. I replied and told him that the pedals are perfectly visible in one of the pictures I already posted.
He also asked about the car's mileage: "Do you mean 60,000 actual miles?", when I already posted in the ad that the car has 58,398 miles on it. If the car had 60,000 miles on it, why the hell would I list such an exact number?

#84, that could be it. But sometimes people are fucking arrogant like that I guess. |

Due to problems with the battery terminals, the Rambler ended up mothballed in my yard in June. Finally yesterday I got the thing started, and it's humming away like a big ol' sewing machine. :) Needs to be washed BADLY though.
An old friend of the family (sold my father the '79 Chevy van I learned to drive in) recently offered me a peachy '75 Ford Granada Ghia 2 door with a 302 and a C4, plus $500 for the Rambler. I returned his call after I got the car moving again, and we're arranging to meet and make a deal Monday afternoon. |

#88, Reading over this thread just now, I just realized that it's the same car I mentioned in post #76. I knew I had looked at it once before, but I didn't realize I had mentioned it on here prior to a few days ago. |

The Rambler is now traded. I'm now the proud owner of a 49,000 mile disco-era Granada.
I should have home internet access soon, I'll be able to submit photos. |

Man this was an awesome read. I love going through old threads like this. This is going to sound weird but I love reading old threads, and memories of what I was doing in life come flooding back with the thread. Super cool and nostalgic. |

I miss this car sometimes. I wasn't really a good place to take care of it the way it needed - and I'm still not - but listening to the rasp of that old six while driving down Highway 19 with all four windows down and my arm draped across the seat back is something that will always stick with me. |
