Just paint the roof body colored. And in my taste throw on some bellflowers and cragar SS supremes with the wide whites and bag/lower the rear. Instant awesome in my book.

If it were mine, I'd also paint the roof body color. I'd leave the purple on the wheels and side trim, though, and add a purple Naugahyde interior.
I'd also pancake and shave the hood, then add a 1957 Buick grille, just like on this '57: http://media.photobucket.com/image/...tcabinet022.jpg
Beyond that, I would change anything. Maybe light purple tint on the windows....colored tint works on '50s cars.

#17, You sir have excellent taste. A Desoto 'teeth' grille would also work in my book. And purple metalflake side trim.
