Description:
2006 Subaru WRX TR

TR is for "Tuner Ready", this thing comes with NOTHING fancy. It's meant for people that are gonna swap out everything anyway. $1000 less than the normal WRX.

So why can't they call it a base model?

#2, Base model probably doesn't appeal to the car buying demographic like the phrase "Tuner Ready" does. Think about it, how many riceboys zoom around on the main drag and say, "Yeah she's a base model!"? Although I think the Tuner Ready description is stupid, it gives the car an edgy attitude.

This is a very good idea. Every car company should think of doing this. Why pay for a sound system and 6 disc changer if you could just put your own in and install it for less than the factory cost?

Well, Peugeot made the 'Tuner Ready' versions of 205 Rallye and 106 Rallye. They didn't even have sound insulation, only 100hp under the hood (these cars were really small!).

Funny enough, one of my new coworkers has one of these in gunmetal. Pretty damn sweet, actually. Has a nice sedate look without the wing.

#2, Manufacturers play the "option delete package" game, because, otherwise, they wouldn't be able to claim in their marketing, "Come with STANDARD so-and-so, and STANDARD this-and-that..."
