#42, Damn that sounds good. Amazing what somet tuningll do for a domestic 6. Sounds about like my friends 03 V6 Accord, actually. |

I can guarantee that it's a hell of a lot louder, though. :p |

Should be interesting (and might sound a little different) once it's fully tuned. SCed setups don't run much timing at all at the top end, and I've got the timing pulled back 4* globally until I can get it on the dyno to confirm that the A/F is good.

I never realized you were doing so much work to the thing Lemming. I knew you swapped in a 4.2 but I had no idea about the S/C :). I just wanna say congrats on pulling something off that most people wouldn't even think about. Nice work :) |

#47, It's a rather silly project. http://www.celshade.com/index.php?n...id=4&page=2
Next step is to put the front brakes on once the calipers show up (I have the discs and the hoses; I have no idea why this is taking so long) and brace the chassis a little differently. In another couple months, I think I'm going to swap the whole front end out the a Maximum Motorsports tubular setup. |

#48, Pretty cool if you ask me. It should definitely make some GT boys think twice :p. Mind if I ask what you do for a living to fund this Frankenstein? |

#49, I test computer software for a large corporation. I suspect that I could probably scare the hell out of people in stock Cobras, as well.
50, I could probably use a stickier tire. The 712s are pretty hard and they don't stick that well in cold weather, although they were pretty good in FL during the spring/summer. As for lightening, there's not really too much I can do as long it's a daily driver--I can't really strip the interior and trunk, lose the AC compressor, etc. at the moment. I'd love to get a few pounds off of it, but so far, I've just concentrated on not adding weight needlessly. |

#54, The Grand Canyon is a nice little ditch.
And, to explain my former comment about brakes: I could probably have gotten slotted, but the benefits (IMHO) are primarily present only in wet braking situations when the tires have less grip anyway. I know it's not as bad as crossdrilling, but any metalworking that is done to a brake disc after it is cast has the potential to cause stress risers and other forms of weakness. Blanks for me. |

Maybe I should go get an Altima 2.5 and try and make it whip an SE-R... |

#56, There's one thing you have to keep in mind here. The main (performance) differences between the GT and the V6 are all in the drivetrain. Brakes? Same. Suspension? Same except for swaybar diameters. Gearing? Comparable. The Essex V6s are all aluminum-head, cam-in-block engines which have a lower center of mass than the wide, tall modular V8s. Without the SC kit on, I can guarantee you that I had better weight distribution and balance than a GT, and probably had more horsepower.
If it hadn't been for the unfortunate demise of my original engine, in some ways, this build would have made more sense than starting with a GT. This is especially true because I am concerned with more than just power.

#59, My point was that if I'd not lost an engine, it almost would've made sense. :p
What I really should have done, rather than swap in a 4.2 when the 3.8 bought it, was to install a stroked 5.0 (331, to be precise) in an aftermarket aluminum block. Probably lighter, and comparable power, but NA. |
