#20, Brakes. A little bit more chassis bracing. Possibly some better seats and harnesses further down the road, since the limiting factor on cornering is mainly driver courage. Engine is now basically as close to max effort as practical, and the suspension is essentially finished unless I decide to go with aftermarket members in the front end. |

#21, That's cool man, I'd like to make a nice F body project or something, even though I wouldn't have a lot of power or handling to work with. But I guess that's part of the fun. |

#22, It is the fun. There's always something faster out there, so the enjoyment of any car project, in my opinion, comes from appreciating each little change. Since I vaguely remember what this car was like when it was stock, its current configuration seems particularly insane. |

#23, Yeah, I remember seeing pics when you upgraded the suspension and the tires throughout the years. Good times. It's good to see a Mustang owner more focused on handling than 1/4 mile times |

Bit of an update on this: Within about a week of installing the supercharger, I discovered that its transmission casing had a small leak. Rather than take my chances, I had the supercharger removed and sent in for repair. I finally heard from Procharger last Friday; supposedly they discovered a manufacturing defect in the transmission seal and were sending the rebuilt unit out to me that day.
I should have the supercharger sometime early this week, assuming the shipper (FedEx?) doesn't manage to screw it up. I'm looking forward to having it back; it was weird going back to a naturally aspirated engine after driving an SCed one for a couple of days. I'm obviously going to have it reinstalled (and, hopefully, tuned) ASAP. I wonder how much power we'll see; quite possibly 350+ RWHP, but I'm not a fan of guessing.
Oddly enough, brakes still haven't arrived. I hope I get them soon. |

#26, That said, although I liked the SCed power quite a bit, and am looking forward to getting it back, I wish I'd just built a much larger NA engine. I probably could have hit similar power levels with a wild 331 or 347, and I like the linear response of a well-tuned NA engine. Although the supercharged setup is highly responsive (unlike a turbo, which loses spool when you let off the gas, an SC is always spinning at a constant multiple of engine speed and thus provides boost as soon as you hit the throttle and close the bypass valve), it's not quite the same as NA. The throttle response at higher RPMs isn't quite as precise, because the open-or-closed nature of the bypass valve produces a sort of "lightswitch" effect. It's still excellent response, but I like NA better. |

#28, We'll see. Stock '99-04 V6s with nothing but dual exhaust tend to come very close to 300 RWHP on 11 PSI; this is a 4.2L engine with virtually every known airflow improvement (everything is ported, valves are oversized, longtube headers, etc.) so it should hopefully make some decent power. All I know is that with a 4* timing retard (which I'll keep using to control detonation until we're sure that the A/F is safe), it absolutely was scarier than my father's C5.
Can't wait to get the boost back. :)

#37, We'll find out when it's dynotuned. Just based on NA numbers and the amount of boost that we're running, it should be in that territory, but I don't know for sure. |
