Not really with the makeing power from idle to redline. I mean who really wants that much go, it makes normal driving crap, and you really who launches their car from idle for a proper race.

#21, Well, not idle, but just above cruising RPM, anyway.

My basic point is that I'd prefer to have usable power over a wide range, not some narrow little 500RPM powerband.

#23, Yes of course, but how many cars are like that, and if you are racing, or just need more go you change down a gear or 5. I mean most of the time when giving your car a hard time you would be reving it out and doing quick changes so you would use about 3000rpm tops, and thats where the power would be. But yes I do get your point.

#24, My father had a 'Vette with an LT4. Naturally aspirated 350 V8. In stock trim, it would pull ~300 lb-ft of torque anywhere above about 1700 RPM.

My V6 (wussy little thing, but still) hits torque peak before 3000 RPM (has usable torque well before that) and loses less than 10% between there and redline.

The idea of most twin-turbo setups is to boost at low RPMs, allowing power over a wide range.

And so on. A 2-3000 RPM powerband is usable. An insane single-turbo setup that lags, boosts hard, then redlines (like most single-turbo Supras, for example) has only limited applications.
