18-year-old ??!? I'm sorry, but his parents are quite stupid.. I don't know what else to say.

Kinda like buying a 19-year old another RX8 after he wrecked his first one.....waitaminute

There's a kid around here on cardomain with an early 90s Viper, and he doesn't even look old enough to drive yet.

It depends of the kid. I know I would have been responsible enough to own a Corvette at 18....but I wouldn't have wanted one then, because I used to hate the C5 Vettes. :P

More power to him if he can drive it responsibly, but if I had a 350 horsepower fiberglass bodied sports car at 18 I'd have surely wrapped it around a tree in no time.

Who puts those five-dollar Wal*Mart fogs on a Corvette, seriously?!

#5, That's the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this picture.

I do have to wonder, however, how the parents justified getting him this. Or how any parent would...

#7, If their kids drives an expensive car, it makes them look rich. Therefore, their kid drives something fancy, and it reflect well on them, at least in their own minds.

That's my take on it, anyway.

If someone wants to get their kid something expensive and flashy, get them an Infiniti M35 or Lexus GS350.

It's a vehicle with a rich image, but without the fastest engine so it isn't too powerful for a kid.

He bought it himself, apparently. He has a job and has previously owned two 4th-gen Camaros including a '98 SS.

#9, Good point, if I were wealthy enough and willing to buy my child an expensive car, I'd buy him/her something along those lines.

#10, Again, more power to him. A 99 Vette probably wouldn't cost too much over 20K (depending on mileage), but unless he had a low interest loan payment over about 3-5 years, the payments coupled with insurance would be quite costly.

#10, Meh, it's his money, he can do whatever the hell he wants with it.

#11, trust me, my payments and insurance are nowhere near corvette-level, but they're a killer.

My cousin has since sold this car and bought a house. He then bought a 2005 Pontiac GTO, and has already blown the engine. He is now driving an old red Dakota his parents tried to give him when he was 16. Serves him right as far as I'm concerned. That's the second or third performance car he's ruined.

#15, The Dakota's back at his parents' house and they've now given him their green 2003 Grand Prix GT sedan. The GTO has a new engine and my uncle is driving it.
