#2, Man, I was inches away from being quite rather stone cold dead by not hitting an animal. I missed the animal but I hit a forest. At speed. Sideways. Now every time I see something 4-legged near the road my hair stands on end. |

I usually try to slow down or swerve within reason....that is, as much as I can without actually SLAMMING the brakes or leaving the road. If the fucker can't get out of my way without making me do one of those things, his ass is grass.
For larger animals like deer or cattle, I'll slam the brakes if I have to, but I won't run it off the road. Movable objects always cause less damage to a vehicle. A deer is a movable object, a ditch isn't. |

I hit a squirrel once, it was totally unavoidable, I was making my way down a side street and the little bugger jumped out from under a parked car...next thing I new I heard a gross "thump" under my rear tire. I felt bad so I made him into a stew and served it to a neighbor I didn't like. |

I hit an armadillo once in my Camaro. He exploded.

I was in a bus that ran over a cat. Not nice at all, he seemed to get precisely under one wheel, I swear I could feel the bump. |

My dad hit a badger at 40mph. Just went over a blind hill at night and the thing ran out in front of us. New radiator, bumper and a straightened front beam were all required. |

#12, For a badger? Damn, the armadillo didn't even damage my car, and they have shells. |

#13, We were in a Peugeot 307 and considering they fall apart if the wind changes direction suddenly, don't be surprised |
