The MN12's where too heavy for Six's. I had a 92' Cougar for a time, thing was underpowerd like Cruse liner powerd by Goats on a Tred Mill. My 95' Bird's got the V-8 and it does fine. But that engine isn't going to stay in too long. I'm getting one of the Mustang Cobra engines to put in er. |

I agree. The 3.8 was adequate for cruising and mild city driving, and it had enough low-end torque to move OK from a stop, but it really lacked power overall, considering that the car weighed ~3600lb or so. 140 hp/215 lb-ft just wasn't enough. My Mustang is noticeably quicker, but it weighs around 500lb less and has about 50 hp more. Still, the T-bird was a great cruiser/highway driver and it would've been quite good with a V8. |

Yeah, with that many miles, don't race it or beat the engine in any way...and it'll last for a while and make a nice car. |

#48, That's not a XR7, I don't think. That was a performance package, not a granny-vinyl top package. |

Pretty reliable, I see a lot of Cougars still on the road. Just don't pretend you're on a racetrack with it. That applies to any car, but especially one with 100K miles. |

When you don't know how the previous owners treated it, and it has 100K miles, it's better to play it safe and treat it right. |

That year XR7, if it actually had a V8, would be the 4.6L SOHC version that they use in Mustangs. Not too fast; around 200hp in that calibration and trim level.
They also came with the 3.8 V6, around 140-150hp.
Thunderbirds were available with the 3.8SC until 1995; it was good for ~220 hp and had 315 lb-ft of torque or so. |

#56, that goes with any amount of miles really 50K with a bad driver can be just as bad as 100K |
