#20, Yeah, anyone knows that you can build a 1200hp streetable Supra with air conditioning, run 8's or 9's, drive it on the streets AND spray about a 500-shot of nitrous when you need more "go".

#22, Yeah, and everyone knows that 9 second Supras can be driven around town all day even though the fastest street Supra in the country runs 8.98 and CAN'T be driven around all day.

But, 8 second V8s can't be driven around all day even through the fastest V8s run 6s and can't, because they're V8s and they aren't high-tech and they aren't Japanese.

#23, Besides, Name me one "high-tech" Japanese engine that doesn't steal ideas from earlier ones......

In all honesty though, I have a hard time believing that a massively single-turbocharged car would be very driveable at all. I mean, you're likely to have no torque down low and only be able to pull boost for a relatively short RPM band. I mean, really--they build these things to throw out all kinds of absurd numbers on the dyno, but the usable powerband has to be microscopic. It's not that I have anything against cars with small turbocharged engines, but they're not really intended to be some kind of monster drag cars, and it's really rather wasteful to use them that way (not that I'm really that big a fan of building a drag car out of anything).

#26, He hasn't replied in awhile. He's probably just letting it go to the other pages so no one will ever see it.

Here's the link to the entire thread: http://www.supraforums.com/showthre...&threadid=94092

Since there's nothing else going on, someone ought to sign up and assist in giving them hell. I've already got the last words in.

#27, Some of them arn't to bad, this single turbo Supra has 100hp at 3k and about 400 more in 1.5k rpm =)

I still want my Supra even though I'll have a funny powerband like this, I just love those cars.

#35, Have fun; I just don't consider that to be terribly streetable. I'm not saying that you need massive torque off-the-line, but that's just not what I would call a very broad powerband. Still, it must be interesting to ride in--a little bit of lag, then a massiver rush of power

#36, Actually, I'd like to amend that--175-200 lb-ft at 2500 RPM is plenty to launch a car with. Not the fastest way to get out of the hole, but driveable enough.

#37, Dead on, honestly I think the car would be very streetable, 175 ft lb's is more then enough for normal driving. Don't forget that even though the car has a huge jump in power in a usable rpm band, that's only under full throttle. At normal driving conditions turbo cars are puppy dogs, and they are ready to bit pretty damn hard if you incline to bring up the boost.
