I'm expecting something around 15.4, actually.

yeah, and a fellow owner I know got a 15.3

Was the one R&T tested blue? Because the blue "press car" had the winter package, which includes not-fully defeatable traction control.

#64, I don't remember... I was looking it up in the "Road Test Summary".

ah, ok.

But yeah, a bunch of magazines got a blue one with the winter package, SVT press cars are almost always blue actually. Dunno why. Which is why most magazines reported high 15s.

That's a bit retarded, to promote your performance car with such a drastic performance drain on it.

ford central probably just decided to have the press car have every option.. it's a common flaw.

Mini Cooper S drop almost two tenths from their 0-60 times with the base 16" wheels and no sunroof, but almost all magazines test one with the 17s and a sunroof.

shame that you didnt get the hid lights...i would have never thought that ford would offer them on a subcompact

#59, OMG tymeslypps!

One of these days, I'm going to have to drag my car. Once or twice, just enough to get one good launch and a plausible 1/4 mi. ET. Heck, there's even a full 1/4 mi. track down here, and they run twice a week.

Getting a good launch would be the tricky part--I suck at that, and I don't think the nice officers would appreciate it if I practiced that on a city street.

#51, I heard thats a trait common to modern fords, and it's not the fly wheel. Seems to be an emission control device built into the ECU, I've heard an aftermarket chip can fix it.

#73, It's emissions, I think. My Mustang does that a lot.

You are gonna race it with only a few hundred miles on it? What about break-in?

Anyway, it's SWEET. I went to buy one of these when they came out, had 5K in my hand for a down payment. Why don't I own one? Stupid dealer mark ups, I was told because the car was so new and in demand I would have to pay a $2000 premium to own one. Needless to say FUCK THAT.

I'm betting ~15.7 out of it, considering it's still pretty new.

I'd sport it

Ok, I'm back. The best I could pull out of it was a 15.4 with a 2.2 60' time. Shorter gearing would help, I was barely topped out in third gear. Oh well, eventually I'm going to sort myself with a focus-power turbo kit, but that's a few years down the road. Intake and exhaust coming in a couple of weeks.

#75, oh yeah, and it has 4500 miles on it, so it's pretty much broken in. Going to full synthetic in tranny and motor at 6000.
