#21, Hey it's not like they couldn't keep up with their non-supercharged competition so they had no other choice.... :P
Whole 'nother ball game here.

#20, knowing the torque stear my mom's Ultra had, i think i'd rather have the SRT-4 and take off the wing |

#24, Your argument might have some validity if the car you were comparing to actually had competition at this juncture. But let's not hijack this one, too. :-P |

#27, You're completely missing the point. solid_snake is a 03 Cobra fanboy bench racer. He's trying to stir up shit about the conversations we had about the Cobra needing to have a supercharger to keep up with the Camaro at the same price point because Ford engineers suck (about a car he doesn't even own mind you). I'm not going to get into it again; it's been beaten like a dead horse (pardon the pun) and I was just talking about the Cobalt being nice and wanting it for a daily driver before he made a smart-ass comment. And solid_snake, read the price point part of this comment. We've talked about all this before. I'm not going through it again.

Those arguments came from the completely moronic "superchargers are cheating" statments I read from some F-body owners. If superchargers are cheating on one car they are on all cars. and I'm no more a fanboy than you

#33, I never said they were cheating. Never once. I basically said what I said what's in #31 every time. When you made that comment, you were referring to me. |

ALRIGHT, LOOK.
The fact that the Cobra uses a supercharger is not a negative statement about Ford engineers. The fact is, 400 hp out of a 4.6, while more than possible to obtain, would probably not have been pheasible for a street car due to the high compression required, not to mention the likely emissions and gas mileage problems that come from a highly strung engine. Supercharging made sense from Ford's angle. Then again, they should have just increased the displacement, but they seem to have a phobia of displacement. There is nothing wrong with forced induction, and Ford is no more wrong for using it than Pontiac, Buick, or Nissan. And lets not even get into all the cars that use turbochargers.
Thank you. |
