#119, I think I pissed off a guy with one of the FWD turbo ones (2nd gen Eclipse GS-T) the other day. I was skating 'round the campus in the morning, and because of the speed limits and frequent stop signs, I was pacing him for a minute there. I don't think he appreciated that, because it sounded like he nailed it in 2nd once he finally got to a longer straightaway :-) |

and i'll give him that you could get more out of these on a very low budget then you could with a pony car, but once you get past the low buck mods, the pony cars will give you more bang for your buck |

#128, maybe not, and I think one of the last things the vipers need is more weight :/ |

im back. the only thing on the cars that i could see was exhaust. the corvettes were stock, and like 2 of the mustangs were stock. the rest with the exhaust. and about a week ago my tranny started grinding into 2nd gear. but im hoping it just needs tranny fluid and there are a couple of adjustments in the shifte |

#126, just adding an AWD system to a viper wouldn't make it faster, in fact it'd probably make it a bit slower because of the extra weight. It'd hook up well though |

#131, it would solve the traction problem the viper is known for.
just how would you fit a differential under the engine and between the front wheels? |

#130, If that's a manual transmission, and you're grinding while changing gears, that's usually not a good sign. In fact, it resulted in an expensive tranny rebuild (covered by warranty) on my last car. |

#134, i know dsm's are famous for their transmissions like a camaro is famous for it's safety.

Well, in all fairness, it's not an easy task to build a transmission for an AWD car. Since it's generally hard, if not impossible, for an AWD car to get much wheelspin on dry pavement, that's a lot of a shock to the innards of the tranny (especially on launch). Same concept as taking a modified RWD car with a stock transmission and slapping drag slicks on the rear--you're running the risk of mangling something. |

#138, Well, if you plan to hit something head-on, a Mustang is actually a fairly good choice. Get hit from any other angle, though, and you are in trouble :-(
Besides, the main factor in the high insurance rates on pony cars would probably not be their safety problems so much as the kinds of drivers they tend to attract. |
