Wow, thank you so much. I never really understood how a rotor works until now, it is simple. |

Crazy, I just came from watching a vid in linkage, where they where asking a guy about his Mustang GT R, and they asked if it had a rotary engine and he said yes

#10, ok cool. AMC was oringanally going to put these in the pacers and was going to buy them from gM but when gM cancelled the rotary engine program they had to use regualar piston engines. also the pacers were supposed to be fwd |

Gotta love the simplicity and efficiency of these. No pistons, no valves, no cams, no rockers, no lifters, no rods, just 3 moving pieces - two rotors and an eccentric shaft. And liter for liter these stomp piston engines into the dirt. Felix Wankel was a genius. :)

my only question is that of it's reliability (rotor tips). |

#16, That's why they haven't become the standard, as of yet, the tips of the rotor (apex seals) wear too fast to make the motor appealing to car companies beyond limited use in sports cars |

also a lack of tow end torque and fuel economy issues. |

#18, Wankel still has a patend on it. Also, there are emission issues.
