Is it true that Ford's planning to drop the CV soon? That's what I've heard. I think it's a big mistake, personally, discontinuing the unoffical police car/taxi of North America.

They'll no doubt still sell em to police departments/ taxi companies etc, as it's the only real vehicle that can handle that work.

Whee... let's all support an underpowered inefficient cramped truck of a car whose chassis is relatively unchanged since 1979...

I'm just saying its stronger than any other car as it's body on frame, rwd and V8 powered.

If I was a cop, I wouldn't ride in anything else.

I dunno... other countries around the world seem to do just fine with police cars that were designed less than a quarter-century ago.

Also, when the VE Commodore-based Pontiacs come to America, if GM offers a police package, I think they'd make fine police cruisers too... the Australian and New Zealand police departments seem to love them.

Nothing wrong with the good old, reliable panther platform.

#12, I've always wondered why the Police Impalas get the lackluster V6. That, combined with, the weight of the police equipment, on top of being FWD can't be good for acceleration.

A wimpy SOHC 4.6L V8 in a big sled isn't a heck of a lot better.

#15, There must be a reason the OPP, the OPS and the RCMP order them by the boat load.

#19, better options? better deal? There's gotta be a reason. Cause that FWD performance aint it
