#20, Thats it. Some things are made to corner, for others, handling is a bit of an afterthought. |

with some good tires, an aggressive driver, and some vehicle dynamics knowhow with your particular vehicle, you probably can make anything corner. I still want to drive the noma on an auto-x curcuit |

The fact of the matter is that Mustangs have rarely been made with cornering as a high priority. Yes, anything can be MADE to handle. Yes, good drivers can do wonders. Its like saying Hondas arent fast in a straight line. In general, they arent, but they can be MADE to be.
#28, Since when is "they can be modded" a proper response to "they arent made to handle" hm? Since when is it not generally accepted knowledge, on a car site of all places, that cars can be modded? Dont make things personal, now. ;)

#27, Being aggresive is rarely the best solution as far as making the tires stick is concerned. |

#32, Yep. Let me tell you, as soon as I get a bit more experience/skill/courage I'll drift the fuck out of my little French shitbox. Fling it into a corner, floor it, fling it into a corner, floor it, fling... hellzyeah. |

#31, Why not? As long as it doesn't try to tip over... I saw a video from a US rallyX (basically a gravel autoX) and there was a pickup kicking some ass. |

#34, I'm guilty of flogging my noma on public roads in the snow, but over time i've accually learned to control it more fluently around the corners, I wish there were auto-x events AND amature rally in this area... I feel so automotively under priveleged without such events.
like this video, I can hold a low speed drift alright, but its a little difficult on pure ice, I spun it out a couple times

#36, I have to drive 50km to the nearest event. 100-150km is not unusual, and there are some 300km away. COMMITMENT, WIGGAH! |

#37, I would, if I had the bucks to do so
Maybe I'll start saving some pennies for doing so, I think, 250kms away theres some auto-x club that does it on an airstrip, but the V6 is a lil thirsty so it costs a decent penny to drive out there |

#36, about a month after I bought the Tahoe, my brother and I took it to the north Georgia mountains. At one point in the trip I was running it around the curves so hard that all four tires were squealing |

#29, Add the word "inexpensively" to the "they can be modded" thing, and you've got a somewhat more compelling argument. The '79-04 era definitely wasn't that good out of the box in terms of handling capabilities, but the key problems have been solved a long time ago and all the parts are available in kit form. Although you can certainly make just about anything handle, with the Rustang, at least you don't have to re-engineer the entire suspension yourself--companies like Maximum Motorsports and Griggs already did the hard work while developing their SCCA AS or NASA AI/AIX cars.
The continued popularity of AS, AI, AIX, and CMC also means that there are a lot of people who not only have made their Fairmont-derived Mustangs handle fairly well, but race them competitively.
