#17, No it's not. It has a Mazda engine, much better build quality, and performs a hell of a lot better than an Escort. I read a release from Ford once that they used the ZX2 to "phase out the Escort and the bad reputation that the Escort name carries". It was also a replacement for the Probe that they dropped the year before the ZX2 was released. Don't knock it if you haven't driven one. I know it's an economy car, but I've driven Escorts (other peoples') and the ZX2 is a LOT better in pretty much every category.

#26, but the body is still an escort, and the ZX2 used to be just the top of the line escort, so really the just dropped the all of the escort line except the ZX2, and that is not replacing

I don't think they made SVT Escorts. I could be wrong though. Show me a pic and I'll believe you. Could you be thinking Contour?

#27, I knew it was slow, wanted to learn HOW slow.
Talon hasn't been to the strip yet. It won't be until I get the fuel system on par with the Turbo. I don't feel like breaking anything.

I love the Contour SVTs. If I could find one, I'd consider trading up for it.
