Italy's national speed limit is 92 MPH, they have far less fatalities per mile than us. I think the key is driver education, which we trail most of Europe in.

#4, 1. There where no other cars on the highway 2. it was a two lane one way interstate system. Also if i kill myself doing it at least I'll die happy. I'd never go that fast if there where other cars around or do it unless i was on a highway. and Thats not a car I plan on taking to work, but maybee later this week I'll take it up to 150 just for you asshole.

#9, rock on, indeed.

I took my dad's Saab 900 Turbo to 220 km/h two years ago, at 2 am on a one way interstate. I don't feel bad about it at all.

Well the fastest I went in my 1.4 econobox was 150kph. True, factory claims top speed is 170kph but:
a) the car had 80hp WHEN it was new; not it has 11 years and over 180.000 km on the odometer
b) maybe it would go faster (no wheel/suspension/steering shake) but the engine sound was begging me to let it go.
So I cruised at 140kph for half an hour. The engine still lives :)

#6, Well why don't more people get killed on airplanes? I mean, at 500 mph surely they're jeopardizing the safety of everyone on board.

fastest for me is ~135-140mph while racing a big 70s Ford...

and I topped out a '84 Nissan truck before... nothing more after 85mph! You pushed the gas down and you just didn't go anymore...

and I've blipped over 100mph in just about every car I've ever owned... which is scary as fuck in a SUV..
