I've been tempted to take a lighter with me, so I'd be prepared when those guys come. Although, that there would really be an attack on the religion itself, and not on the guys passing out bibles, which would PISS people off, so I havent done it. A jewish friend of mine also enjoys showing the guys his star. |

Most ecology-nuts aren't terrorists, either. It's the exceptions that make the whole look bad. But I've met more pushy Christians than not. |

I mean, they get real pushy once you start talking about religion, which is where it matters. |

so you mean....when discussing religion, you've met more radical christians, than reasonable christians.
...I strongly dislike those radicals of all religions. Mormons especially, they act as if questioning their religious doctrine is one of the ULTIMATE SINS. I find questioning that to be a healthy thing, in a quest to find who YOU really are, and not what IT says you should be. |

Well, I'm not trying to say that all Christians are like those bastards I went to school with, but I'm trying to say that the government endorsing religion is similar in principle to these people. They want to push their own agenda, and don't care who they step on to do it. As I said, there's practically no separation of church and state in Mississippi (it's almost as bad as Utah, lol), and I can't stand the thought of the whole country turning into these people.
I actually started a site devoted to the stuff that happened to me - www.geocities.com/skidmark_84 - but the journal on the site covers 10th grade, onward. Most of the shit that happened to me happened pre 10th grade. |

Seperation of church and state means the gov't will not establish religion...it says nothing against participation. Most people are mistaken about that definition. |

nooo...but they do, in theory establish it. They create the means in which many can be subjected to religious discussion- of only certain religions that have 1 god. |

it also means the government cannot support any form of religion in a government-run thingie. If the employees pray before they get to work, more power to em, but if a manager organizes a prayer session, it's illegal. |

and as far as participation....
kids arent forced to, but in some cases, teachers have actually chewed kids out for not saying the pledge. Other kids also bitch at the "offender" too, which is state-sponsored infringement of the rights of the "offender" |

The deal with governments supporting religion is that they either have to support all of them equally, regardless of how many people follow that religion, or they support none of them at all. |

Ultimately, there are some responsible enough to realize that whoever wants to say it can, and whoever doesnt, shouldnt. Those who dont realize that the students have their personal right to choose are the ones who ruin it for all of the people who do. The easiest way to fix this is to just get rid of it, as the expense of setting it up right would be horrendous.....and the paperwork to do it would initiate a need to pass a bill to reduce the f'n huge amount of paperwork, as the IRS has needed to do. :Þ
