The General Purpose vehicle, GP, or "Jeep"

Designed by the Bantam Car Co. of Pennsylvania
Produced by Ford/Willy's Overland during WWII

#9, Yeah, Bantam didn't have the facillities to produce the numbers required, and after the war, Willys got a patent for the "Jeep" name and started selling them to the public, Bantam protested, but got a hose job when it was ruled they didn't own the Jeep because althought the initial design was theirs, they didn't make the first offical "production" one or any of the component parts

Interresting fact, as part of the contract to build the Jeeps, both Ford and Willys had to agree to warantee the parts, since Henry FOrd, ever the expert on efficecy and waste management in production, didn't want to waste time replacing Willys parts, everything on a Ford-built Jeep has the Ford name or the letter "F" stamped on it, even the bolts

#16, Kinda cool. I actually did not realize that Ford was in any way involved with that project, but then again, it's not something I really looked into :-)

#19, Well the far three don't even have eyes, so srd from the front is still a lucky one.
