I'd look for it to be Pontiac if it does come over here since they are trying real hard to make it the "hip" brand |

typhoon or syclone just wouldnt work for a v8 rwd car based truck
If they turbo it and awd it,then it would suffice |

What is the market for this? Enthusiasts who liked the el camino and ranchero?
The price better be good or it will end up like the SSR. |

#4, There could do that but there are several factors:
1) Overload - Too much choices in lineup could confuse buyers and can compete with one another, producing low sales numbers for each.
2) Cost - Shipping those cars over isn't cheap. Plus those cars follow different safety and miscellaneous standards. Mechanics would have to get used to using their metric wrenches.
3) Us - We would not like knowing American cars were actually cars build elsewhere. It's already done now but having most if not the entire fleet setup like this would really upset the one-dimensional majority.
There are ways around this if thought out but the eh. |

#6, it's a niche market for sure.. but since they are already shipping cars over as the G8 there shouldnt be much investment needed to bring a few thousand of these over here.. there IS a market, it's just not a very big one, and doesnt need to be. |

Bringing it over as a Pontiac would make more sense, as it's based on the sedan. Imagine seeing these two next to each other in a showroom; hell that alone would probably get folks to the dealer, even if they didn't buy either one.
As a GMC, I think soon as people found out it was based on the G8 the 're-badge backlash' would flare up. In short it's based on a Pontiac car sell it as a Pontiac, besides the Colorado/Canyon will have a V8 option next year; a new Syclone may not be far behind.
and I'd be all over a G8 Ute like stank on shit.

I'd buy one, hell I'd probably buy a Ute before I bought any domestic small/mid size domestic truck.
