I've decided to a do a series of car-related videos on YouTube, in the form of automotive history lessons and spotter's guides. My first one is a spotter's guide for C1 Corvettes.

Obviously, I need to work on my dry presentation a little, but I at least hope these videos will be informative.

#1526, Similarly, here's an uninterrupted nearly six hours just from ABC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6AHYPn1xlM
As a broadcast MCO, the moments after the slate come up are interesting. Clearly ABC just left the slate up and gave no instructions to local affiliates, so the MCO clearly ran a local commercial break as filler, probably while cueing up a backup program on tape (in this case, an episode of Roseanne). After coming back to the slate momentarily, he presumably just said "fuck it" and jumped into the episode as continued filler while waiting for word from ABC.
After a few minutes, apparently the station's local news team jumped in (this apparently being an LA-area station with a local team covering the game in San Francisco). Finally, after about 15 minutes (presumably with little advance communication from ABC network), ABC finally jumps in with network coverage for all affiliates. |

#1527, The chaos of the moment (and sheer number of affiliates) makes this somewhat understandable, but working for all of the major networks today, ABC is probably still the absolute worst about advance notice of cut-ins. Fox is pretty bad about it, too: They have a habit of just suddenly ending breaking news coverage and leaving stations sitting in color bars.
CBS and NBC are quite a bit better about keeping us informed. CBS, in particular, has a dedicated printer which prints out multiple copies of instructions for discrepancies. |

#1530, I've had that video in my favorites for about a year now. The dubbing is on-point, and of course anything that references Sealab 2021 automatically wins. |

#1537, I've been on a deep sea life kick lately, and there are some legitimately terrifying things in the ocean. And so much we still don't know about at all. |

#1538, Giant squid, giant octopuses, see-through fish, the eviscerated remains of dead millionaires who bought tickets on unsafe submarines built in someone's garage.... |
