#1048, That Camaro was getting a lot of wheelspin. Obviously the Altima had an open diff-it was just sitting there spinning one tire half the time. I'd have the same problem in snow--heck, I get it in rain.

#1051, AWD definitely has its uses--it gives you lots of traction, which can even be quite a bit of fun on the street. Shame that it tends to put a lot of stress on driveline components.

#1054 last night we were doing donuts in a chevy blazer, and its so much fun with 4wd, the whole truck just rotates as much as you want, the donuts come out compact as hell

where awd fails in the snow - 4wd can triumpt!!!!!!

out of all of them - fwd blows most.

i dont mean the obvious difference that one is full-time, and the other isnt, i mean are they different in getting traction?

#1059, yes.

awd detects slippage and redirects power to the tires that are gripping. In snow - your gonna be having a lot of sliping.

4wd is always running. even if their is slippage - the engine is still turning the wheels.

(can some of the uber leet gearhead correct me if i'm wrong?)
